Nine years since Jimmy left me, all of us. We miss you Jimmy, I miss you Jimmy :( Love to all of you looking in today in memory of Jimmy. Write to me. I would love to hear from friends of Jimmy. Best wishes to you all :)
saw mr black in 1967 at the entrance to the s.f. filmore, top of the red carpeted stairs. I was a high school freshman on the football team. butch haircut. way out of place. rode 50 miles in the back of a pick up to see Jefferson airplane , they never showed. the sign outside said big brother. experience, Sam pa co? two weeks after Hendrix played at Monterey. our eyes met and I thought that's the guy in the mother's on the album cover wow! he stared back with a what's he staring at look. Janis was killer. 20 ft from front of stage. then went up stairs to the balcony. saw big brother walking around. heard another band playing....hey joe but a different version than the seeds. yep jimi Hendrix on stage. I didn't know who he was but I dug his music. he played a few and exited stage right. after couple hours we left heading back to our car in the filmore district. pretty hairy at 2 am. walked up to a corner waiting for light...here comes a 49 Chevy around the corner..who's sitting the passengers seat, mr black with those piercing eyes looking at me again, through me again. I felt like the Un-hip square kid that I was. always think of that night when I see his pic. should have talked to him. hear he was a nice guy. ah but I was a dumb star struck kid then maybe I still am.
Love you Mucho Jimmy, miss you and know you and Frank and Ray together knock out the tunes! much love from Nolan Porter and me!! <3
Wish i could attend! Anytime soon will exhibit travel stateside? CA or NYC?
I greet you from germany. I remember you of the jear 1975, when I began to hear Mothers of Invention. I was 15 jears old. Happy day . Mike.
As I had tried to get through to Jimmy before his passing is simply this....any drummer/percussionist who can keep up with the likes of Frank, Lowell, Motorhead, Don, Ruth, Ian, and the other cohorts is simply fooking beyond me. I've played drums 47 years professionally and can not match some of Jimmy's time measures. Jimmy Carl Black is a blessing for all to behold. May Jimmy's God Bless Him to no end.
Miss ya Jimmy
Happy birthday, Indian boy - missing you mucho!
I'm' thinking about Jimmy today, on what would have been his 77th birthday. We had a helluva ride back in the late 1960's, and I wouldn't mind doing it all over again! No one brightened up a room like JCB. My best to the lovely Moni~ Art Tripp
Happy Birthday, Jimmy! You'll always be Close to me.
